SUN RA - FEATURING PHAROAH SANDERS & BLACK HAROLD

A couple of months ago, the ESP label re-issued the "Sun Ra Featuring Pharoah Sanders & Black Harold" album. That's a good enough reason to take a closer look at some more Sun Ra stuff.

"Sun Ra Featuring Pharoah Sanders & Black Harold" takes a look at the Arkestra in 1964, with then-members Pharoah Sanders and Black Harold as Pharoah Sanders replaced John Gilmore while the latter went on tour with Art Blakey.

This falls into the category of experimental and improvised jazz. Not the easiest kind, but quite impressive.
The origianal album got released in 1967 on the Sun Ra label. This disc presents the enhanced audio, and includes 45 minutes of previously unreleased material.
